She earned her Master’s degree with honors from South University, Savannah, Georgia. Jackie has more than two decades of diverse medical background with experience working in the neurology rehabilitation unit, primary care, OTP (opioid treatment program), OBOT (office-based opioid treatment) clinics, online MAT, IOP (intensive outpatient program), and detox/rehab facilities. She spends most of her work helping patients struggling with substance use disorders.
Jackie is a proud US citizen who migrated from Manila, Philippines. She experienced working for prestigious hospitals in the valley like Banner Health, Dignity Health, and Mayo Clinic Hospital. While working in the neurology rehabilitation unit at Barrow Neurological Institute, she discovered that most of her patient’s injuries were drug use related. She knew there had to be a better way to help these patients before they injured themselves, and began to pursue her passion for preventative measures of addiction. She became a licensed nurse practitioner with a focus on informing her community about the effects and consequences of substance use. She is now the founder and Nurse Practitioner for New Roads Health: Beyond Suboxone. Founded on the belief that a person’s recovery begins by eliminating stigma and offering treatment without delay. She wants to transform the way society treats the opioid epidemic by offering teleMAT and guiding patients through in-home induction.
Jackie is an active American Society of Addiction Medicine member and participates in the AzMAT Mentors Program. She provides training, consultation, and collaboration for new and inexperienced medical providers. Jackie firmly believes in an evidence-based integrated approach to care that focuses on long-term recovery. Her main objective has always been the voice for the underserved and marginalized population with unique challenges than most others. She highlights that recovery is possible and sobriety is attainable. She enjoys nature, hiking, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time with family and dogs in her spare time. Her message to the world is:
“Nature and Prayers are good medicine.”
